The third local governance workshop in Tanintharyi successfully organized

The third day of local governance workshop with Tanintharyi Region government was organized at Dawei City Hall on 6 August, 2018.

As the opening of the workshop, U Phyo Win Tun, Tanintharyi Region Minister of Planning and Finance delivered the opening remark, followed by the presentation about Another Development by Carol Moet Moet Aye, Executive Director of AD. Afterwards, AD’s research mentor, John Livingstone, shared about the local governance system in Australia.

 

The opening session was attended by Tanintharyi Region Minsiters: Colonel Kyaw Zeya, Minister of Security and Border Affairs; U Kyi Hlaing, Minister of Electricity and Energy; U Myit San, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Arrigation; Saw Lu Kar, Minister of Kayin Ethnic Affairs Minister; U Soe Myint, Tanintharyi Attorney General; and, Daw Khin Mar Htay, Regional Judge.

 

Then, the workshop continued with the discussion session and government staff from different departments discussed and shared the issues and capacity needs they were facing.

This local governance workshop was separately organized with Tanintharyi government. It was also organized with Tanintharyi Region Hluttaw MPs and CSOs in the previous days respectively.
