Goyangyi Research Findings Analysis and Discussion

A “Goyangyi Research Findings Analysis and Discussion” event was held at Pathein Hotel in Pathein Township on 28 October.
The event was attended by Ayeyarwaddy Region Kayin Ethnic Affairs Minister Ga Moe Myat Myat Thu, Deputy Speaker of Region Hluttaw U San Min Aung and MPs, officials from Hotel and Tourism department, government staff from Ngaputaw township, CSOs, NGOs, representatives from private sectors, community members and external experts.
The event was divided into the morning and evening sessions. In the morning session, the ceremony was open with the opening remark by Region Kayin Ethnic Affairs Minister, followed by a key speech by Deputy Director General of Ministry of Hotel and Tourism U Myint Htwe. Afterwards, U Zaw Lin Tun, Deputy Director of Ayeyarwaddy Region Hotel and Tourism Department presented the overview analysis of Goyangyi Community-based Tourism. Then, Another Development’s Executive Director Carol Moet Moet Aye presented about the research and led the Q&A session.
Subsequently, Phyithu Hluttaw MP U Than Aung delivered a short speech before submitting CBT proposal. The proposal was then submitted by Region MP U Phyo Zaw Shwe and accepted by U Zaw Lin Tun.
At the end of the morning session, a group photo was taken followed by a presentation about “responsible tourism” by Dr. Andrea Valentin, Director of Tourism Transparency.
In the evening, the event was followed by a panel discussion on “Responsible Tourism”. Experts shared their opinions and experiences related to responsible tourism and community-based tourism.
