COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SESSION

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SESSION

Equitable and inclusive community engagement is a fundamental of delivering effective policy, programs and projects.
Equitable and inclusive community engagement processes ensure people most impacted have a say in decision-making which affects their lives. Robust community engagement processes result in projects, policies and programs that are more responsive to community priorities, avoid many unforeseen consequences, and create relationships that hold organizations and governments accountable.
This sharing session will introduce the topic of community engagement, and then emphasize the wide array of benefits that community engagement can confer to public sector, non-for-profit and private sector organizations. The session will also explore the principals which underlie equitable and inclusive community engagement processes, developing understanding through case studies and group exercises.
The session is presented by b Georgia Wellington, an Urban Planner experienced in policy development and project management for the State Government in Australia. Georgia currently works with Another Development (AD) as a Research and Advocacy Mentor.
